Competitive or “Travel” soccer provides a higher level of competition. Games are played against teams from neighboring communities. An annual try-out process is used to select players. Licensed professional soccer trainers are hired to coach the games and oversee the 2 to 3 training sessions per week. The year-round commitment has teams normally playing 10 league games in both fall and spring seasons with an indoor season over the winter months.
In addition to league games, teams normally participate in several tournaments throughout the year. Costs vary greatly between clubs, but are generally in a range of $800 – $2500 per year.
